Onze Kolyma Honden - Our Kolyma Dogs : Ons L-Nest - Our L-Litter

Dit werd Nina's tweede nest. Een uitgebreide beschrijving van Vainina of Kolyma vindt je bij Onze Beste Kolyma Honden pagina en bij haar O-nest. Na haar O-nest met Alaskan’s Goosak of Anadyr waren we tevreden met het gegeven dat Goosak, Vaininas (te hoge) schouderhoogte goed gecorrigeerd had. Het O-nest was een relatief onverwante paring, met Alaskan’s Silver of Anadyr (zie Onze Anadyr Honden pagina) wilden we terug naar Alaskan’s Astro of Anadyr, hun beider vader. Deze lijnteelt achtten wij verantwoord aangezien aan beider moeders kant pas in 3e generatie (vanuit de stamboom van de pups gerekend) verwante honden voorkwamen. Daarnaast had Silver met haar nestzuster uit het V-nest Ch. Vanessa of Kolyma’s N-nest sound en vitale honden gegeven, zoals Silver dat ook had gedaan als vader van het Q-nest met Alaskan’s Chatka of Anadyr, de moeder van ons V-nest.

Silver had in al zijn nesten goede vitale honden gegeven die allen qua schouderhoogte binnen de rasstandaard vielen. Ook gaf hij zijn mooie uitdrukking in hoofd goed door. Met Vanessa gaf hij allemaal witte en pinto honden, met Chakta overwegend zwarte honden, maar met Vainina “weer een saai grijs nest” zoals Natalie Norris het een keer formuleerde. Opmerkelijk genetisch feit, met deze zo nauw aan elkaar verwante teefjes. Maar het L-nest was een van onze beste nesten. Liberty of Kolyma een absolute match in conformatie en harnas met haar moeder en tante Valerie of Kolyma. En Liberty (Libby) gaf het door in haar nageslacht. Maar daarover later meer!  

This was Nina’s second litter. You will find a full description of Vainina of Kolyma on Our Best Kolyma Dogs page and on the page of the O-litter. With her O-litter with Alaskan’s Goosak of Anadyr we were happy that Goosak had really helped to correct the shoulder height of Vainina, however the O-litter was a relative outcross. With Alaskan’s Silver of Anadyr (see Our Anadyr Dogs page) we wanted to breed back to the sire of both dogs: Alaskan’s Astro of Anadyr. This line breeding we considered acceptable, as on the side of their dams, only third generation related dogs (as seen from their litters pedigree) could be found.  Previously Silver had sired with Ch. Vanessa of Kolyma (Vanina’s litter-mate out of our V-litter) for our N-litter, and the offspring were sound and vital, as he had done with the Q-litter out of Alaskan’s Chatka of Anadyr, the dam of our V-litter.

Silver had always given us good and vital offspring in his litters so far, well within the breed standard with nice type expression in the head. With Vanessa he gave all white and pinto pups, with Chatka predominantly black dogs, but with Vainina out came “just another dull bunch of greys” as Natalie Norris once said - an interesting genetic fact, considering these closely related females. Despite this our L-litter proved to be one of our best litters. Liberty of Kolyma was an absolute match in conformation and harness to her mother, and her aunt Valerie of Kolyma, and Liberty passed this on in her progeny. But more about that later!
